Aviation icons inspires Helsinki Airport photo show

A new ‘Anti-Gravity Women’ photo exhibition has opened at Helsinki Airport on the inbound floor of Terminal 2.

A series of nine portraits by photographer Krister Löfroth portray a different model in each picture defying gravity in some way, either symbolically or more literally. The exhibition was inspired by icons of aviation such as Icarus, the Wright brothers and Amelia Earhart.

Löfroth summarized the message behind his pictures as: “Do not give in and become a victim of gravity; dare to dream and pursue your dream.”

All visitors to the airport have unrestricted access to the inbound floor area, where the exhibition is on display round the clock free of charge.

The aviation photo exhibition at Helsinki Airport is updated twice a year and has illustrated the many aspects of aviation and flying as seen through the lenses of Finnish and internationally renowned photographers.

The program is part of airport operator Finavia's ArtPort concept, which aims to offer travellers a moment of peace and quiet to balance out the hectic airport atmosphere.
For Finavia, the ArtPort concept is also part of its corporate responsibility. Exhibitions and galleries give artists an opportunity to display their work and skills to both domestic and international audiences.
