APOT.Asia spring roll gets Guinness record

The scene early the morning of June 5
The records management team of the Guinness Book of World Records sent good news to organizers of APOT.Asia last week: their efforts last June to set a world record for the longest spring roll had been accepted.

Finished spring rolls were
donated to local hospitals
Visitors who rose early enough the morning of June 5 and made their way to a spectacular beach at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa in Da Nang, Vietnam had a chance to observe and take part in the effort.

“APOT would not have reached this great achievement without all members and local community's support,” said Keerthi "HappyK" Hapugasdeniya of HappyK Solutions in Australia, one of the chief organizers behind the effort. Caterers in Vietnam also assisted in achieving the record by providing ingredients. The elbow grease to make the spring rolls was supplied by students in Da Nang schools and a few APOT delegates who worked against time and rapidly rising temperatures.

In the end, 500 meters of spring roll was donated to local hospitals.
This year’s APOT.Asia is in Sri Lanka. Any suggestions for a culinary world record using local cuisine can be directed to HappyK. However, being Sri Lankan, he may be turning over some ideas already.
